Ferris State University -- through its Center for College Readiness -- has taken a leadership role in offering pre-college experiences that will truly prepare entering freshmen with the aptitudes and attitudes essential to first year success. We know that sometimes students start college and have not yet acquired the essential knowledge, skills, and abilities that will be needed for academic success. The Operation Excel Summer Bridge Program has been developed to serve such students.
During the pilot phase of the program in the summer of 2012, 35 of the 36 students enrolled successfully completed summer courses and enrolled for their first semester of college with 8 required credits; 28 of the students qualified for a $1,000 scholarship earned by completing all 8 credits at the B level or higher.
In the summer of 2013, 18 students complete the program and enrolled at Ferris State. Thirteen students qualified for the $1,000 scholarship.
Download the Operation Excel brochure for information about student eligibility, course offerings, and the program calendar.
Once a student has reviewed the eligibility requirements to ensure he/she is admissible to Operation Excel, he/she may reserve a spot in the program. Instructions for reserving a spot are included in the brochure and on the How to Save a Place webpage.
