Career Wisdom: There is more to life than work and sometimes your expectations keep you stuck.  FACT: The problem here is that perfectionism leaves no room for error and often leads to paralyzing anxiety or avoidance. You can be absolutely certain of very few things in your life because the only absolute is there are no absolutes. The best you can do is to prepare yourself to make good decisions and to deal with whatever happens. Many people rely too much on their studies or their careers to satisfy all their needs and to solve their problems. A major or an occupation is only one part of a satisfying lifestyle. An easy way to overwhelm yourself is to look outside of yourself for happiness. There are times when you might need to examine your personal choices and beliefs that may be getting in the way of your success. Personal Counseling at Ferris is free to students. Taking a closer look at yourself is often the first step towards change and towards developing realistic expectations.
