Formal career assessments are available through Educational Counseling and Disabilities Services on the Internet. These are the Strong Interest Inventory (SII) and the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI).
The Strong Interest Inventory is recommended for use with anyone in need of help with career or lifestyle decisions. It measures your interest in particular occupations, work activities, leisure activities and school subjects and matches them to occupations of possible interest to you. It is one of the most highly used assessment instruments in the counseling profession.
The Myers Briggs Type Indicator is used for career counseling, team building, conflict resolution, management development, and personal growth. It clarifies individual preferences by personality types and identifies both attractive and unattractive occupations for each. It is the most widely used personality inventory in the world.
