The faculty, counselors, and staff in University College reach more
than 10,000 students from throughout the University each year by:

Assisting 2,500 students at all levels master challenging subjects
through tutoring in the Academic Support Center and supplemental
instruction services offered through Structured Learning Assistance
(2,500 students).
- Guiding up to 100 Career Exploration (CARE) students who are
undecided about major or career choices to fields that match their
aptitudes and abilities.

Providing courses in reading and study skills through the
Developmental Programs and Curriculum Department to more than 650
developmental students who learn how to cope with the demands of
college-level learning.

Counseling more than 1,200 students per year with regard to career,
educational and disability issues at the Educational and Career
Counseling Center.

Helping all 2,000 new first-year students at the University
transition from high school by enrollment in the Ferris State University
Seminar.

Maintaining the opportunity mission of the University founder,
Woodbridge N. Ferris, through such programs as General Studies (200
students) Directed Studies (50 students) and the University College
Program (50 students).

Motivating and supporting more than 600 gifted and talented students
to get the most from their university experiences in the Honors
living-learning community.

Mentoring 200 first-generation college students as they adjust to university life
in the SCHOLAR Peer Mentor Program.
