After graduating from Western Michigan University in 1978, Professor Key taught in high school, industry and four colleges. He taught electronics both at Chrysler and Allen Bradley Electronic Corporation. After coming to Ferris State University, Professor Key has taught in the electrical area since 1987.
Professor Key became Coordinator of the Automotive Service and Auto Body program in 1996. He served as the Department Chair and was also the President of the Academic Senate from 1999-2012. Currently, Key is a professor in the Automotive Service Technology, Automotive Engineering Technology, and Automotive Management programs in the College of Engineering Technology.
