Abbreviation: ASHP
Membership Requirements: Enrolled in College of Pharmacy, in good academic standing.
Mission: The mission of ASHP is to advance and support the professional practice of pharmacists
in hospitals and health systems and serve as their collective voice on issues related
to medication use and public health. ASHP supports the establishment and development
of Student Societies of Health-System Pharmacy (SSHPs) on pharmacy campuses nationwide.
The Ferris State Chapter is currently an officially recognized SSHP.
Student Benefit: Members gain a greater understanding of the hospital pharmacy setting with opportunities
to shadow pharmacists; attendance of residency workshops; and invited speakers. Volunteer
opportunities vary from year to year, but may include participation in drug "take-back"
programs, Capitol Day, patient information leaflet distribution, community awareness
programs and organizational leadership.
Meetings: Second Tuesday of every month in Pharmacy 303.
