Current Academic & Research Interests
Dr. Eklin's research activities involve organizational leadership and change issues within the correctional system with a particular interest in how organizational structure and culture impact the environment for both prisoners and staff. He currently serves as Chair of the Michigan Correctional Officers' Training Council (MCOTC). This Council is responsible for setting training and certification standards for all corrections officers and sergeants working in Michigan state prisons. Dr. Eklin was appointed to the Council by the Honorable Rick Snyder, Governor of Michigan, and elected as committee Chair by his peers to a term expiring March 2016.

Dr. Eklin is an amateur radio operator with an FCC issued call sign of W8JJ. He has successfully made a two-way radio contact with all continents, all states, and all 3,077 U.S. counties. He also enjoys computers, guitars, target shooting, and bluegrass music.
