Professional Experience: 

Dr. Stone has worked in both the adult and juvenile justice systems. She has worked as a corrections officer in the adult prison system, and in adult probation. She served as the Executive Director of juvenile day treatment, non—secure detention, and residential facilities. She has been licensed as a private investigator in the state of Michigan, specializing in child custody and medical insurance fraud cases. Before returning to her home state of Michigan in 2009, she taught at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, where she also served as the Director of Instructional Technology in the Department of Justice Sciences.

Current Research Interests:

 Current research interests include examining the role of private sector actors in public sector criminal justice activities, and researching how criminal justice professionals define and perform their work.

Works in Progress:

Works in progress include research that examines the role of bar bouncers in the prevention of date rape, the development and implementation of online pedagogy, and the effectiveness of service-learning in criminal justice.

Hobbies:

Flying single-engine aircraft, golf, and shooting.
