Maria Putt is the criminal justice advisor for Ferris State University at Macomb, Oakland, Schoolcraft and St. Clair County community colleges. She has been employed with Ferris for the past two years. Previously, she was an adjunct instructor in criminal justice at Henry Ford Community College in Dearborn.
Maria completed a rewarding 25 year career with the Farmington Department of Public Safety (police/fire/medical) in 2008, having attained the rank of commander. She served many roles and advanced in rank within the department, including: patrol, detective, narcotics, auto theft investigator, field training officer, school drug and alcohol instructor/coordinator, fire incident commander, neighborhood watch presenter/coordinator, and special operations bureau commander, among others.
Maria holds degrees from Delta College (Associate of Arts-Law Enforcement), Ferris State University (Bachelor of Science-Criminal Justice), and Eastern Michigan University (Master of Public Administration). Additionally, Maria is a graduate of the first class of Eastern Michigan University’s School of Police Staff and Command.
