Graduating with my AAS in Dental Hygiene and receiving (one of) the DHYG class “Outstanding Clinician” award from “Ferris State College” in 1987, I bring 22 years of clinical dental hygiene practice to FSU.

Many varied clinical settings have helped to shape my dental (hygiene) career including working 2 years as a dental assistant at Whitefish Bay Medical/Dental Center in Bay Mills Indian Reservation, 3 summers for Shelby Migrant Health Services, 7+ years hygiene at Baldwin Family Health Care then 7+ years in a private practice which also accepted Medicaid. During this time frame, I had the pleasure of working monthly with oral surgeons from Traverse City & an orthodontist from Alpena.

Community dentistry has been an important aspect of my clinical career, targeting students in K, 2 nd, 5 th & MS ages in rural school systems including Baldwin, Newaygo, White Cloud, Grant & Big Rapids.
