COMPASS®

Tests are offered Monday through Friday at 8:30 a.m. by appointment based on room and staff availability.

Appointments can be made by calling 231-591-3628 during business hours or by coming to our office: Institutional Research & Testing, 3rd floor of the Timme building. Our business hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. Please note that we do close when the University closes and we do NOT do testing during the week of final exams.

Tests are $8 each.

A counselor or faculty member must recommend the test(s). There is a form that can be filled out by clicking here.

Sample questions can be found at www.act.org/compass/sample

Calculators for math tests: There is a link on the http://www.act.org/compass/sample website called "Calculator Guidelines." Because this is available, it is the student's responsibility to make sure their calculator is acceptable before arriving for the test. In addition, we provide scratch paper, a pencil, and a basic four-function calculator. There is also a scientific calculator available in the software when the student begins the test (they just click on the Calculator button at the top of the screen).

We encourage all students to focus on the section at the bottom called "More Sample Questions." This section lays out the concepts, provides a number of sample questions and also provides the answers.

On test day, students should arrive at the Timme Center at 8:15 a.m., stop at the Student Service Center on the first floor to pay the fee ($8/$16/$24) and request two receipts. The student should then take the elevator up to the 3rd floor, go through the wood door and follow the signs to the Testing Office.

Students MUST have a valid, current picture ID (driver's license, Bulldog Card, passport, state ID). Tests will NOT be administered without valid and current ID. NO exceptions.
