My FSU - Financial Aid

All students seeking financial assistance must complete the FAFSA form. The Financial Aid Office offers a variety of federal, state and institutional financial aid, including:

  • Grants, which includes a Federal Pell Grant for needy students (as determined by the FAFSA)
  • Scholarships
  • Work study (student employment opportunities)
  • Loans (low interest federal student loans; federal parent loans; and private, alternative loans)

For more information regarding financial aid visit the Financial Aid website.

If you are awarded a work study grant, or if you plan to work at Ferris State University, you may go to the Student Employment website after you have registered for your classes (you'll need to know your schedule so you'll know what hours you're available to work). Visit Student Employment web page.

NOTE: Direct Deposit - Ferris State University encourages students to enroll in direct deposit for credit balance refunds from financial aid and other sources to go into a checking or savings account.  Students may choose any bank for this process.  Direct deposit refunds are quicker and earlier—no waiting on checks mailed to your permanent address.  Students may also receive a $400 book advance before the semester begins (if eligible).

Tips: Financial Aid may require recipients to enroll in at least 6 credit hours.  Full time students are enrolled for at least 12 credit hours.

F-1 Visa students and students on their parents' health or automobile insurance may be required to enroll in a minimum of 12 hours (full-time).

If you have financial aid questions you may contact Ferris' Financial Aid office at (231) 591-2110 or e-mail at
