Enhancing the Availability of Scholarships:
This is an ongoing project. Because of the decline in the equity markets, forty percent of Endowments with the Ferris Foundation have lost value, reducing the available scholarships from these funds. Still an intensified emphasis is planned for the next two to three fiscal years on personal solicitations, target mailings, and e-appeals. The Great Lakes Scholarship is a new opportunity for new freshmen or transfer students who live in selected counties in Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, and Wisconsin. The dollar value of transfer scholarships have been increased and recipients can appeal for a third year of eligibility. Final revisions are being made to a Scholarship Award Guidelines proposal. There is a continued effort on annual "opportunity gifts," and there will be special donor-scholarship recipient luncheons/dinners to thank our supporters and cement our relationships.
