Elaine Kamptner serves the University as the Executive Assistant to the President. Her responsibilites include serving as a member of the President's Council; coordinating and managing the executive office operations; preparing research and composing correspondence, reports, and communication; acting as the "gatekeeper" for the President and his schedule; maintaining records and retention schedules; coordinating special events and projects; and assisting internal and external constituents. Elaine also maintains the Executive division websites.
Elaine has worked in several positions at Ferris since 1985 and in the President's Office since 1992. She has served as a member of several process review teams and university-wide committees, including Commencement and First Impressions. She chairs the FSU Pride Committee since its inception in 1994; chairs the Timme Building Emergency Committee; and has chaired the 2003 Presidential Inaugural Committee, Women's Professional Development Conference, and the Records Management Retention Task Force. Elaine is an adjunct faculty in Ferris' College of Business. As a Notary Public she provides a public service to many employees and students.
Elaine has earned a Secretarial Diploma from GRBC (now Cornerstone University), an Administrative Assistant associate's degree, Business Administration bachelor's degree, and Information Systems Management master's degree from Ferris State University.
In recognition of her outstanding service to the University, Elaine was honored with a Distinguished Staff Award in 1999.
