Academic Coordinator |
Lisa vonReichbauer is the Academic Coordinator for the IEP program at Ferris. In her undergraduate studies, she majored in Spanish and minored in Latin American studies. In 2002, she earned her master's degree at Central Michigan University in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL). Lisa taught English for eleven years at CMU before coming to Ferris in the summer of 2011. She has experience teaching listening, speaking, reading, writing, and grammar from beginning to high advanced levels. In addition to teaching classes in the IEP, Lisa coordinates the IEP curriculum, the Conversation Partners Program, and the Study Abroad Miles Program to help international students improve their English language skills and share their cultures with native-English-speaking students on campus. She also serves on the curriculum committee for the Office of International Education. Lisa lives with her husband and teenage son and daughter in Mt. Pleasant. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family. Their favorite activities are skiing in the winter and boating in the summer. |

Bijaya Acharya became a member of the IEP teaching team at Ferris in the fall of 2011. He got his first master's degree in English Literature at Tribhuvan University in Nepal. He also has a second master's degree in TESOL from Winona State University in Minnesota. He taught at Little Angels' High School in Nepal for four years. Then, he taught for three years at the College of Business Management in Nepal. While working on his second master's degree, Bijaya was a Graduate Teaching Assistant and taught English as a second language. He was a member of the Nepal English Language Teachers' Association (NELTA) and has done research on "Teaching Literature in a Language Classroom." He was awarded The Best Teacher of the year award in 2007 by the College of Business Management in Nepal. Bijaya's hobbies include traveling, watching movies, meeting new people, and getting to know new cultures. |

Aubrey Adrianson has a master's degree from Grand Valley State University in TESOL and a bachelor's degree from Western Michigan University in English Education. Aubrey's teaching experience spans from public school education, to community college teaching freshman composition, and teaching English in intensive English programs. Aubrey admits that one of her favorite classes to teach is grammar! Besides teaching classes for the IEP, Aubrey also develops content for the IEP website and is the editor of the OIE Newsletter. Aubrey loves to cook a variety of foods, and some of her specialties include lasagna, chicken curry, and sauerbraten. She also keeps active with some activities like belly dancing and TaeKwonDo. |

Vickie Craig is an Adjunct IEP Faculty. She has a BA in Linguistics from the University of Virginia and has taught English to immigrants, refugees, and students of all ages. She wants to encourage international students and their families to experience and understand everyday life in the U.S. Vickie has also volunteered in many places. She served in the Peace Corps, and also used to volunteer at a clothing bank to help poor children get the clothes they need for school. She enjoys traveling in the U.S. and abroad, and in the summer, she likes to go sailing with her family. | |

Dan Goldner is an English as a Second Language (ESL) Faculty at Ferris. He got a bachelor's degree in English Education from Western Michigan University and a master's degree in ESL from the University of Hawaii. Before he came to Ferris State, he taught English for 5 years in Hawaii and for 3 years in Korea. He also taught English and world history in a junior high school in California for a year. Before Dan became an English teacher, he was a United States Marine. He is especially interested in ESL writing. Dan enjoys ice hockey, and he sometimes spends his time watching hockey games. He also used to play ice hockey when he was in graduate school and still enjoys skating. | |

Dan Johnson is an adjunct professor for the IEP. Dan attended the University of Oklahoma, and earned a BA in international studies and a BA in French in 2009. While in college, he was in the Pride of Oklahoma marching band. Dan also took the opportunity to study abroad while in college. He went to Jordan in the summer of 2007 and to France in the summer of 2008. After graduating, Dan moved to Clermont-Ferrand, France, for a year to teach English. Along with teaching ESL at Ferris, Dan also helps to run the Conversation Partners program. Dan has learned to speak multiple languages, including Arabic, French, and Spanish. His hobbies are reading, cooking, music, and languages. In his free time, Dan likes to play volleyball and soccer. Dan plans to begin studying for a master's degree in teaching ESL in the fall of 2012. |

Kristin Lennon is an Adjunct IEP Instructor. She has a master's degree in Spanish and two bachelor's degrees, one in Spanish and one in English with an emphasis in secondary education. Kristin has taught English abroad in both Spain and Australia, and she has taught English for four years in the US. Along with teaching abroad, Kristin has had the opportunity to travel abroad and has lived in places like China, Chile, and Spain. Aside from her interests in traveling and learning about other cultures, Kristin enjoys climbing and mountain biking. | |

Maria McNeel is a fellowship recipient in the IEP and the Faculty Center for Teaching and Learning. She teaches IEP courses part time and conducts research through the FCTL part time. Maria has a BA in Business Administration with an international emphasis from Oregon State University and an MA in TESOL from Central Michigan University. Before joining Ferris, Maria taught at the English Language Institute at CMU and for the Saginaw Chippewa Tribal College. Maria is interested in research, which is one reason why she decided to join the IEP Faculty as a fellow. She is most interested in Second Language Acquisition and communicative teaching methods in the ESL classroom. In her spare time, Maria and her family enjoy outside activities like swimming, skiing, and hiking. Maria and her family also spend time playing the piano, reading together, and creating art. | |

Jerry Nickles is an Adjunct IEP Instructor. He has a master's degree in Communications from Belford University and a bachelor's degree in Speech and English from Ashland University. Jerry has been teaching Speech and English classes for over thirty years at both the high school and college levels. Jerry is also from Big Rapids and taught for Big Rapids High School for 26 years. Now he is semi-retired and teaches IEP classes simply because he enjoys it. Jerry has many hobbies that include traveling, cross-country skiing, and kayaking. | |
