The Sports Leadership Institute at Ferris State University will sponsor a Sports Entertainment
Summit on Saturday, March 22, 2014 at the Applied Technology Center (ATC) of Ferris
State at the Grand Rapids Community College campus. The purpose of the Summit is to
network current people in the Sports industry with students and graduates from the
west Michigan area.
The day will include keynote addresses, panel and break-out sessions, a networking lunch, time for one-on-one conversations, and a Graduate School fair. The kick-off keynote presentation by Ira Childress of Childress Sports Consulting and Athletic Director at Okemos High School will prepare participants to maximize their experiences at the Summit. The closing keynote address will be presented by Scott Lane, President of the West Michigan Whitecaps.
Summit participants are invited to segue to social networking time in downtown Grand Rapids and climax the day by attending the Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA) championship game, scheduled at 7:00 PM at the Van Andel Arena.
The Sports Leadership Institute is a new venture at Ferris State University. Its mission is "to support activities that position Ferris State University students for leadership in careers in the Sports industry." While the Sports Entertainment Summit is open to any interested student or graduate in the west Michigan area, Ferris students in the Sports Communication program will serve as hosts.
