Roberta (Robbie) Teahen, Ph.D.

Since 2007, Dr. Teahen has served as an Associate Provost at Ferris, where she is responsible for leading efforts in accreditation, assessment, evaluation, and graduate education, in addition to serving as the director of the DCCL program. Earlier she also was also responsible for online learning, charter schools, and faculty development.

Most of her career was spent at Northwestern Michigan College (NMC) in Traverse City, where she served from 1970 to 2001 as both adjunct and regular faculty in Business, Business Division Director, founder of the Center for Business and Industry and its first director, Dean of Occupational Studies, Director of Learning Services, and Dean of Workforce Development.

Throughout her administrative career she has taught for NMC, MSU, WMU, EMU, and Ferris. In the DCCL program she co-teaches the Critical Issues in the Comprehensive Community College course, the Practicum, and she serves as a Dissertation Committee chair.

Professional activities include extensive work with the Higher Learning Commission, where she serves as a team chair, an assessment mentor, a completion academy mentor, a direct assessment reviewer, a member of the Institutional Actions Council (the decision-making body of the Commission), and as a frequent trainer for other peer reviewers.

Her higher education interests are broad, and she is committed to student success, especially in preparation for successful careers. Her dissertation research focused on organizational learning and the learning-centered college.
