Since 2009, Cindy L. Miles has served as Chancellor of the Grossmont-Cuyamaca Community College District (GCCCD), a two-college district in eastern San Diego County bordering Mexico that serves over 30,000 students. Miles serves on the boards of the American Association of Community Colleges (AACC), Institute for Evidence-Based Change, Center for Community College Student Engagement, Chief Executive Officers of the California Community Colleges, San Diego and Imperial Counties Community Colleges Association, East County Economic Development Council, and the Water Conservation Garden. She is a member of AACC 21st Century Initiative Steering Committee and Commission on Diversity, Inclusion, and Equity, and the American Council on Education’s Commission on Inclusion.
Miles came to GCCCD from Miami Dade College, Florida, where she was founding president of the Hialeah Campus. She served previously as Chief Operating Officer of the League for Innovation in the Community College and as a faculty member, researcher, grants developer, program director, and senior administrator at community colleges in Texas and Colorado. Prior to higher education, Miles served more than a decade in the allied health field as a medical technologist.
She is a national speaker and consultant on topics of student learning, educational quality and innovation, leadership and change, and organizational spirit.
