Dr. Hiller serves as the Executive Director for Research, Planning, and Effectiveness at Northwestern Michigan College in Traverse City, Michigan. She came to NMC almost 12 years ago in the role of Coordinator for Institutional Research and has expanded that role to include responsibilities for college-wide strategic and operational planning, and accreditation. In 2013, Dr. Hiller was the recipient of the Rouche Award for Innovation Excellence from the League for Innovation for her role in the accreditation of NMC’s Bachelor’s in Maritime Technology, the first community college bachelor’s degree program in the state of Michigan. Improving higher education outcomes is her mission.

Before joining NMC, Dr. Hiller earned her Ph.D. in Political Science, specializing in Comparative Politics, International Relations, and Quantitative Research Methods. She currently uses quantitative and qualitative research methods on a daily basis to provide information for decision-makers through program evaluation, institutional outcome measurement, policy review, assessment of student learning, and survey research. Prior to earning her doctorate, Dr. Hiller was a Captain in the United State Air Force and served in many theaters as a logistics officer. While serving in Germany, Dr. Hiller earned her Masters Degree from Troy University in International Relations.

Dr. Hiller has many teaching experiences that include, Research Methods for Western Michigan University, and International Politics and Applied Social Research Methods courses for Ferris State University. Ever a life-long learner, Dr. Hiller most recently earned a certificate of achievement studying Time Series Analysis and Forecasting statistical techniques.
