Each year COMH 121, Honors Public Speaking, holds a speech contest. For Fall 2011 the speeches were open topics in Informative and Persuasive Speaking. Out of 24 participants, four students made it through the semi-finals and they were Meredith Davidson, Kate Griffin, Melissa Kocefas and Bill Meengs.
Of the four semi-finalists, Bill Meengs, a student in Pre-Optometry, received first place with his speech on Theodor Geisel, a.k.a. Dr. Seuss.
