Awards and Recognition

Outstanding Scholar Award, 2013The Honors Program recognizes the outstanding achievements of our students at a number of points in the year.  In accordance with the Honors purpose statement, these awards recognize of consistency and high achievement in coursework, as well as outstanding commitment to service and leadership. 

  • 4.0 Award - Twice a year, during Fall Semester and Spring, each student who has achieved a 4.0 GPA for the previous semester is presented with a certificate honoring their achievement at the Honors 4.0 Dinner / Awards night. Students are encouraged to invite friends or family to the banquet.
  • Medallions - Honors medallions are awarded to each student who has completed the Honors Program at the Senior Send-off Banquet.
  • Outstanding Leader - The Outstanding Leader award is given each semester during the 4.0 awards banquet. Students are nominated by their peers, and a final decision is made by the Honors Program staff. 
  • Outstanding Service - The Outstanding Service award is given each semester during the 4.0 awards banquet. Students are nominated by their peers, and a final decision is made by the Honors Program staff. 
  • Outstanding Scholar - The Outstanding Scholar award is given to one student annually who best exemplifies the characteristics of Honors students. The Outstanding Senior's name and college are engraved on a plate that is displayed in the Honors Program office.
  • Outstanding Professor - The Outstanding Professor award is given each semester during the 4.0 awards banquets. Professors are nominated by their students, and a final decision is made by the Honors Program staff.
  • Senior Symposium - At the Senior Symposium, the best poster or posters receive an award for excellence, and the awardee’s name and college are engraved on a plate that is displayed in the Honors Program office.
  • Stoles - Stoles are awarded during the Senior Send-off banquet each spring for Service and Leadership. Stoles may be worn at graduation, along with the Honors medallion. Those honored with a stole will have their names engraved on a plate displayed in the Honors Program office.
