The Academic Profiles - a direct measure of student learning
In order to gain a standardized comparison of entering and upper-level students, the Academic Profiles (short form) is administered by the General Education Coordinator every other year. The Academic Profiles provides scores on students' reading, critical thinking, quantitative skills, as well as their knowledge of the sciences, humanities, and social sciences. This standardized test, then, is used to assess Ferris students' progress towards meeting the learning outcomes in the following areas: Reading, Reasoning Ability, Quantitative Skills, Scientific Understanding, Cultural Enrichment, and Social Awareness. The General Education Coordinator compiles the results of the Academic Profiles into a report that is shared with the University community. The report includes results, analysis, and an executive summary.
