A Professor “Goes International”
How I met My Globalization Goal with the Help of Ferris State University
Wednesday, January 29, 2014
Presenter: Susan Jones (Marketing)
As a marketing professor with more than 20 years' experience at Ferris State, I set the goal of "going global" in my teaching I realized that just talking about international marketing with my students would never have the impact I intended without experiencing it first-hand. In this 50-minute presentation, I will share how I first set and then met my initial international learning and teaching goals through a week-long seminar at the University of South Carolina, followed by six weeks teaching abroad during 2013 at Ferris State partner schools in France and South Korea. I will share how these experiences have been transferred to the classroom and help inspire more College of Business students to study abroad. Perhaps most relevant to faculty and staff attendees, I will share how I made this happen with help from Ferris colleagues and resources, so that others may choose to do something similar.
Susan K. Jones is a professor of marketing now in her 24th year at Ferris State University. Professor Jones is the author, co-author, or editor of more than 30 books, several of which are used in her face-to-face and online classes.
