Creating Environments that Engage, Inspire and Retain STEM Students conference
Saturday, March 22, 2014
Central Michigan University
Mt. Pleasant, MI

The Faculty Center for Teaching and Learning would like to invite up to 10 faculty members (tenure-track and non-tenure track alike) who teach in STEM-related programs to attend the Creating Environments that Engage, Inspire and Retain STEM Students conference that will be held at Central Michigan University on Saturday, March 22, 2014, from 8 AM to 4:30 PM. The conference will feature "several experts on topics such as how to transform traditional courses to active learning courses and how to utilize active learning spaces." The registration and transportation costs for 10 faculty members will be paid for by FCTL. More information about the conference is online at: https://www.cmich.edu/colleges/cst/CEEIRSS/Pages/default.aspx

The Faculty Center for Teaching and Learning respectfully requests that faculty who attend the conference with FCTL's support participate in a "Student Success in STEM Working Group" after the conference to develop a STEM student success and retention project or initiative at FSU. An example of such an initiative is the "Advancing Student Success in STEM Initiative" that is currently funded by FSU's Office of the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs (see: http://www.ferris.edu/HTMLS/academics/center/initiatives/pcc/advancing.htm for more information). Other projects or initiatives developed by the Working Group may also be viable options.

If you are interested in this opportunity to attend the conference or have questions, please contact FCTL at 231-591-3826 or fctl@ferris.edu. Please note that registration for the conference closes on Monday, March 3, 2014, at 5 PM.
