This faculty learning community is part of the University goals to “become a demonstrable
center of excellence in educational quality and student learning” (Strategic Goal
1). The learning community is one means to support “quality performance” and “to demonstrably
improve student learning” (Strategic Goal 1, Initiative 4).
Your experience in this faculty learning community will be built around the Quality
Matters (QM) Rubric, which offers eight general standards for high-quality design
in online and blended courses. These standards address (in part) learning objectives;
learning activities and assessment; interaction in the course; use of technology;
course navigation; accessibility; and student support. This FLC will enable you to
design an online or blended course that meets QM standards, and to use the QM rubric
to evaluate your course.
All faculty -- tenure-track and non-tenure track alike -- are invited to participate.
Upon successful completion of the work associated with the learning community, you
will receive a Professional Development Incentive of $400.
