Adobe Connect

Friday, October 26 from 4:00 - 5:00 in FLITE 110

Adobe Connect is the University's web conferencing tool. It can be used to hold virtual meetings with faculty and staff on and off campus or with classes. Sessions can be recorded and archived as well to be shared with users who were unable to make the meeting. Discussions about known limitations, and common challenges will be part of any session. Alternatives will also be discussed. 

Atomic Learning

Wednesday, September 5 from 2:00 - 3:00 in FLITE 108

This hands-on session introduces faculty and staff to the Atomic Learning video tutorial repository, explains the many ways the tool can be used, demonstrates how to share video links with others, and how to embed video links into FerrisConnect Learn. 

CPS Clickers

The University’s standard CPS “clickers” provide students an interactive way to provide feedback during a class session, respond to quiz or exam questions, and more. The tool is a useful and efficient way for faculty to monitor and assess students’ learning and experience. 

McGraw-Hill Connect

Monday, September 17 from 2:00 - 3:00 in FLITE 110

Many publishers have resources that plug into FerrisConnect Learn. This session will provide an overview of McGraw-Hill Connect, and will demonstrate how to access your McGraw-Hill Connect content online and connect it into FerrisConnect Learn. In order to make use of this session confirm with your textbook publisher that the McGraw-Hill Connect functionality is available to you.

NBC Learn is an archive of videos, newspaper articles, photographs, and primary source documents that has been collected by NBC News for over 80 years. They have compiled all this information together and made it available for educational institutions to subscribe to. NBC Learn has made this wealth of information available to us for one semester as a free trial. Please come to this one-hour session to see how you can use this amazing resource in your class this semester! 

Prezi

Wednesday, October 10 from 3:00 - 5:00 in FLITE 110

Prezi is an alternative to PowerPoint that has some attractive features for faculty who may be looking for a new presentation tool, are drawn to thinking through the design of a presentation in a more non-linear fashion, or wish to develop their presentations anytime and anywhere (thanks to Prezi being a cloud-based or online tool). 

Respondus

Respondus is a test creation tool that allows you to create your own questions and quizzes and surveys for use in FerrisConnect while you are offline. Questions can be typed directly into Respondus, imported from a file, or retrieved from a FerrisConnect course. This workshop will guide participants in creating a Respondus test and deploying it in FerrisConnect Learn. 

Study Hall Walk-in Sessions

Every Tuesday and Thursday from 11:00 - noon in FLITE 404

Instructional Technologists, Jackie Hughes or Andrew Peterson, will be available in the Faculty Center workroom (FLITE 404) every Tuesday from 11:00 AM - noon to assist faculty with their technological needs.  No problem is too big or small!  Feel free to drop in at your convenience during these times.  No need to RSVP, because we are here to serve you!
