-
Learn student names as fast as
possible--a name
equals respect.
-
Make continual invitations to
students to visit with you outside of class. Building relationships with
students is a powerful way to motivate students to learn.
-
Give a test or quiz early in the
semester--students often make study decisions based
on the first test.
-
Use a variety of assessment tools
to determine what students have learned.
-
Vary teaching presentations to
cross all students' learning styles—students are very visual learners given
the media based culture they grew up in so the use of
images in teaching is one important key to aiding students learning.
-
Bring the real world into the
classroom as often as possible--authentic learning is
the key.
-
In some form assess learning at
least once a week.
-
Give students adequate time to
answer questions orally--10-second rule.
-
You can’t correct their tests too
fast--feedback is
vital..

of learning is just talking. (Dr. Tom Angelo)
