To maintain the best possible network service, it is sometimes necessary to perform updates or equipment maintenance. In reviewing network usage, we found that Thursday nights are the best time to do this, while giving the network employees enough time to complete needed changes, and to be able to work with our vendors if needed. All network connectivity (including web access, printing, and email) could be down after 10 pm on Thursday nights. We have set aside the first Thursday of the month to perform most of this work. Other Thursday nights may be used if the upgrade or repair cannot wait.

Of course, in an emergency situation of a equipment or server being broken, emergency work will occur to restore services as quickly as possible.
