LockDown Browser is a web browser used to enhance security for online testing. When a student uses this browser for any assignment, quiz, or exam they will not be able to print, go to another website, or copy any content in the page. The browser will be locked down until the assessment is submitted.
The following are instructions on how to download the LockDown Browser.
Note: If you are using Windows Vista you will need to run your system as administrator before proceeding. Right click the Internet Explorer Icon either located on your desktop or under the start menu under all programs. Then click “Run as Administrator”.

First step to download Respondus LockDown Browser is to login to FerrisConnect open up the class you are trying to take the assessment for. Open the assessment and click “Download Information”.

The next step is to choose the operating system that you are using.

Choose the type of computer that you are using.

After selecting the type of computer that you are using click “ Download Installer” to download the install files.

A pop-up box will then appear asking to save the file. Click “Save File” to save the setup files to the computer.

After the setup files are saved, find the file on the computer and open the LockDownSFX.exe file. The file that was just downloaded can most likely be found on the desktop.

After you click the LockDownSFX file a security warning pop-up box will open asking if you want to run this file. Click “Run” to run the file properly.

To run and install Respondus LockDown Browser click the large install button.

Then click “Next” for the InstallShield Wizard to install the browser.

InstallShield Wizard will first need you to accept the Licensing agreement. Before installing, first read the licensing agreement then check the circle with the decision to accept or not to accept the agreement. If you accept, click “Next”.

Next select where Respondus LockDown Browser will be saved. To choose another path to save the file click “Change” If satisfied with the location click “Next”

To install click “Install”.

Now wait for the file to download. If the file is downloading, a progress bar will appear showing the install process.

Click “Finish” to complete.

On the desktop the new LockDown Browser icon should be available. Launch the browser and login to FerrisConnect to begin the assessment.
