Adopts A Highway
Adopt-A-Highway is a Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) program designed to help keep the state's highway roadsides clean and attractive. Participants adopt both sides of a section of state highway roadside to clean up. Since 1990, Adopt-A-Highway local groups have collected over a million bags of trash. Currently 2,600 groups are participating in the program and have adopted over 5,700 miles of Michigan highways.
The students of the FYE program in Clark Hall picked up 12 bags of garbage on September 13, 2009.

Housing and Residence Life has adopted State Street from in front of Walgreens to about two miles south of the University. The Residence Hall Directors and Leadership team took the first opportunity to clean up on July 9, 2009 and collected 12 bags of garbage.

On April 23, 2009 the Housing Custodians collected 28 bags of garbage!
