Ferris Mausoleum in Highland View Cemetery

Celebrating 125 Years!

The kickoff of our year-long celebration began on September 1 with a wreath-laying ceremony at the Ferris Mausoleum at Highland View Cemetery in Big Rapids. After a week of rain, beautiful, sunny weather greeted participants including Ferris President David L. Eisler, City of Big Rapids Mayor Mark Warba and State Representative Darwin Booher as they recognized how Woodbridge and Helen Ferris changed the Big Rapids community and the State of Michigan forever when they established their school here in 1884. Special guests, the Reverends Jon Fleming and Jerena Keys from the United Church officiated at the ceremony. Members of the Ferris ROTC placed the wreath, which they guarded at the W.N. Ferris statue on campus during the afternoon.
